Asus Introduces ROG Equalizer Cable With Enhanced Protection Against Overheating
Asus has announced the ROG Equalizer, a new 12V-2×6 power cable designed for modern high-performance graphics cards. The company says the cable improves current distribution and reduces connector temperatures under heavy GPU loads.
The ROG Equalizer Cable’s enhanced protection is crucial for maintaining optimal performance in high-end systems, especially when paired with powerful components like those highlighted in our ranking of the Best Graphics Cards 2026: Top 9 GPUs Ranked by TechRadar.
What the ROG Equalizer Cable Does

According to Asus, the cable is based on a patented design that helps maintain material temperatures below 105°C while increasing current capacity from 9.2 A to 17 A per wire. The goal is to address overheating risks associated with high-power GPUs using 12V-2×6 connectors.
The cable is intended to deliver more balanced power flow, which can reduce stress on individual pins and connectors during intensive workloads.
Testing Results and Performance Claims

Asus demonstrated the cable using a stress test that simulated severe current imbalance by disconnecting four +12V wires. Under these conditions, the ROG Equalizer reached approximately 73.4°C.
By comparison, a standard 12V-2×6 cable reportedly reached around 146°C in the same scenario. In a separate endurance test, the ROG Equalizer maintained temperatures below 105°C during a 240-hour run at 600 W load and 55°C ambient temperature. These results are based on internal laboratory testing by Asus.
Specifications and Features

The ROG Equalizer cable complies with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. It features a dual-color 12V-2×6 connector to help users verify proper installation and uses gold-plated spring contacts on the GPU side.
The cable length is 750 mm, and the package includes cable ties. Asus provides a three-year warranty.
The company also plans to integrate support for the cable into its GPU Tweak III Power Detector+ utility. This update is expected to add monitoring features that complement the cable’s hardware-level protections.
Availability and Free Upgrade Program

The ROG Equalizer cable will be bundled with Asus ROG Thor III and ROG Strix Platinum power supplies released in 2026.
Asus also confirmed that existing owners of these power supplies will be able to request the cable free of charge through an upcoming upgrade program. The program has not yet launched, but the company says it will be available soon.
